Citing the need for security, privacy and other reasons, the Town Board this evening voted to relocate the Police Chief’s office to the airport welcome center.
The airport is city owned property and although there were questions regarding the ‘out of town’ location from an audience member, they were reassured by trustee Chance Brown that on occasion there may be an incident, which was alluded to during the meeting as already having occurred, whereby someone; a city employee or elected official, may be endangered because of police work being conducted within the current location at City Hall.
A separate facility for conducting, exclusively, police work dealing with a criminal or felonious situation was requested. Mr. Brown continued with a motion to approve the move which was seconded and carried by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Buffalo.
There will be costs, of course, for the move and costs for some remodeling to retrofit the facility for the police chief and the things required by him and the, about to be acquired, additional police officer.
UPDATE NOTICE! January 21, 2009 -- MOTION RESCINDED

Mayberry R.F.D. had their Barney Fife and evidently Buffalo has requested that they get their own version of Barney too!
A request for an additional police officer to join the current police chief was discussed this evening but was tabled for further discussion at a later date.
No action was taken.
Another Police Officer?
In other news, the fine schedule for violations within the Town of Buffalo was increased to align with the State minimum fine schedule by a quorum vote of the trustees.
Speeding tickets and other violations will now incur greater monetary damages. Clearly, this is not a revenue stream for the city, but according to Town Trustees, helps offset costs of police department operations.
