Place: Doby Springs Golf Course
What: Course Maintenance Mower
Why: Umm, Fire?
Hop on the mower! Let's go for a ride!
Wheeeee!
We'll tool on over to the rough between fairway 3 and 1 and the tee box at 2 and get busy mowing.
Ut-Oh - What's going on here?
FIRE!
No one was hurt and everybody's OK.
What caused this? No one knows for sure but The Doby Springs Golf Course Association President, Mr. Brady, advises Inside Buffalo that all caution is being taken to assure this doesn't happen again.
Speculation is that the Town of Buffalo is on the market for a replacement mower for the golf course. The Town will be looking for the best value we're sure and, as required by Municipal Code, bids will be requested so as to provide the golf course with the necessary equipment to maintain Doby Springs, as has always been the situation.
Only the best equipment will do.
Editor's Note: This article was re-titled and edited on 1-29-09 AFTER having been originally published 1-25-09. Inside Buffalo was informed, originally, that the Town had insurance at Doby Springs Golf Course. That's true, Doby Springs does have insurance, however... only Liability. Inside Buffalo is now enlightened. At the annual Doby Springs Golf Course Association meeting, held January, 28, 2009, the Town Manager of Buffalo reported to those in attendance that there was no comprehensive insurance on any of the equipment, tractors, mowers, carts, etc. None. Even the clubhouse is absent comp insurance we're advised. When asked if this was going to change in light of the accident and fire, they were told, "No".
Keep in mind, that the mower, pictured, is almost 11 years old and the deductible of the Town's Insurance, had there been any, would have been higher than the what mower was worth.
This new information changes nothing except the title of the article, herein. It originally read: "It's OK, We're Insured".
In the article itself, there was a portion of a sentence removed referring to a $5,000.00 deductible.
