Buffalo Swimming Pool Committee

Receives Grant

In the hot summer months of 2008, the Buffalo Swimming Pool Committee, having been appointed as overseer of a Buffalo Municipal Pool Revitalization Project, got to work installing a fence on the North side of the swimming pool.

The fence project was a huge hit! After completion the committee was congratulated and acclaimed for the fashionable and sophisticated look the new fence gave to the dated pool.

Numerous residents requested that the appointed swimming pool committee complete the East and South side of the swimming pool with this new, chic fencing, assuring them that when it came time to begin the 2nd phase, they would be behind the project completely.

Phase 2 of the fencing project began being organized in the fall of last year. The committee has been working diligently on this project for months. The Town appointed, Swimming Pool Committee, believes that the new fencing project including installation will cost approximately $10,250.00. Currently, the swimming pool committee’s aluminum can recycling account has $5,000.00 which is going to be applied towards the project if and when the Town Board approves.

On February 26, 2009 the Harper County Rural Development Council – HCRDC - granted funding of $3,300.00 towards the 2nd phase of the fencing project at the Buffalo Municipal Pool.

The pool fencing project, however, has a projected shortfall of about $1,950.00.

The pool committee is working in conjunction with the Town of Laverne in procuring better pricing and freight, combining purchases for both locations.

The swimming pool committee will be approaching the Town Board on March 4, 2009, seeking approval to move forward with the Phase 2 fencing project. The swimming pool committee is not asking the Town of Buffalo for any additional funds.
