It’s such a positive thing – EXCEPT…
We first reported about the illegal Doby Springs dump site on February 19, 2009 in this article: HERE
Since that article was published, the site has been somewhat cleaned up, sans the old tractor. Taking not 2 months to complete the semi clean-up is commendable. The Town of Buffalo started first with the batteries and storage drums which was written about in this article on February 23rd, 2009: HERE.
The clean-up was nearly finished just recently. We are told that the prisoner loan program provided needed help from Ft. Supply which was instrumental in getting the debris taken care of properly.
If this type of reporting from both Onside and Inside Buffalo can get the Town of Buffalo employees and elected officials moving then we’re accomplishing something.
Perhaps Inside Buffalo and Onside Buffalo are doing some good in spite of the critics!
Now, we are urging the Town Trustees, in concert with the Town Manager, to completely finish the job.
Get the old tractor out of there too! If the old tractor is not going to be removed then the Town, in association with the organization(s) responsible for posting the “Nature Trail” signs, should, absolutely, reconsider placement of those signs. There is no way that a nature trail should exist mutually with a dumping site, the least of which still contains an old tractor.
Once completed, Inside Buffalo will gleefully publish an article about: “The Ultimately Complete Clean-up at Doby Springs”
Look for the article to be published soon!
Until then – we're tapping our foot in anticipation.
