No big deal really. Seriously, it's no big deal.

Oklahoma law requires certain things from it's municipalities. One of those things is that they follow the law. But remember, this is Buffalo Oklahoma where the Town does what it desires with disregard for State Law as evidenced on a multitude of occasions.

Case In Point---

§11-17-105. Annual financial statement audit or agreed-upon-procedures engagement.
" A. The governing body of each municipality with an income of Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) or more to its general fund during a fiscal year shall cause to be prepared, by an independent licensed public accountant or a certified public accountant, an annual financial statement audit to be conducted in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America and "Government Auditing Standards" as issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.
Such audit shall be ordered within thirty (30) days of the close of each fiscal year."

This particular little ditty of a law is being addressed on Wednesday at the Town Board Meeting under their "consent agenda" items. Those secret little items needing a decision from the Town Trustees about Town business that the public doesn't know about unless they go down to City Hall and request, and pay for a copy of their own consent agenda.

FYI - FOR YOUR INFORMATION Buffalo! - Voting to order an audit 2 days after the law requires you to order it is, what did Beavis and Butthead say? "Breakin da law, breakin da law" That's too late! You can't, legally, do it. But alas, it will be done. (allegedly)

ALSO - According to the agenda, found here: There's going to be an executive session - listed as the reason for the session is the "purchase or appraisal of real property" because the Town is looking to purchase the lots directly behind the "Slumber Yard" for the Town's use.

More Expenses!

Higher costs directly attributable to the new Clinic, which the taxpayers must bear. What's that going to raise the price of the clinic deal to? New Proportions? We'll address that in an upcoming article.
